Profile Information

Do you live in Ashland or the southern Oregon area? If yes, then what are you seeking?
Yes, Talent
What brought you Southern Oregon and Ashland area?
I was running from the law. No. Wait. Actually I moved to Ashland to work with Dr. Marc Heller in '89, and I've called the area home ever since. I love it here!
What products, services, information or resources would you like to share, offer, give, sell, or exchange locally or regionally?
I've been a chiropractor for the past 21 years, and I have offices in both Ashland and Medford. Folks can get more info about our style of chiropractic and massage on our website at sheehanchiropractic.net. Sufffice it to say my style is essentially low force, as well as conventional chiropractic, with an emphasis on core stability rehabilitation to minimize the chance of the person's problem returning. I also utilize a lot of deep tissue massage before adjustments to loosen stiff, achey muscles that can make adjustments more difficult and sore. Patients often remark that our approach to care is very different from the other physicians they've been to in the past, in that we take plenty of time to determine the cause of the problem as best we can, we listen to the patient in a relaxed way, and we take the time to teach the person what they need to know to properly heal, on as many fronts as necessary.
I'm also a landscaper on weekends, and work with Mike Bauman and Austen Ferris locally to beautify the valley, helping people with everything from pruning roses, building and planting raised beds, planting new lawns, trees shrubs and flowerbeds, trimming trees, and many more lawn and garden tasks too numerous to mention. Call me at 973-3566 for more info.

I'm also involved with starting up a "Cool Community/ Low Carbon Diet" campaign in Ashland and Talent. Understand it's not read low carb, but low carbON! Read carefully! No skimming! The subtitle is "How to lose 5000 pounds in 30 days".
In a nutshell, it's about educating and empowering citizens about the opportunity to lower our local collective residential carbon footprint by 20% in 3 years.
Individuals meet with others to lower their individual or family "carbon footprint" by implementing a series of easy steps over the course of a month, and subtracting predetermined amounts of carbon from their footprint.
If successfully rolled out nationally we can lower our greenhouse gas production at the grass roots level and have a significant effect on co2 production planet-wide, since the U.S. produces such a high per centage of the planetary total.
I'm trying to get the city of Ashland to adopt the program and come up with 3 year city-wide reduction goals, with the possibility of rolling it out as a county-wide competition, i.e. a " Biggest Loser" competition.
Many cities around the country are doing this, with documentable ,significant results. Ave. household savings? $253.00 a year. Call if you'd like more info!
Please describe any projects or businesses you'd like to develop locally or regionally, if any?
I'm becoming involved in Cynthia Salbato's Plan-it You project. I'll be including the low carbon diet / cool community campaign in the green game part of the project.
Look Plan-it you up on the web for more info - it's a really interesting and fun, creative way to increase one's health and energy, and implement environmental change in a gamelike way!
What are your favorite books, films or music that you'd like to share with others?
Recent Movies - The Majestic, Fur, The Visitor
Music - I'm listening to Alyson Krause on Pandora right now, my favorite. Also Tim McGraw, Nat Cole, too many others to mention....
What is your primary website, social network or blog?

Low Force Adjustments and What Patients Appreciate

I had a new patient in the other day, and she mentioned that she had previously been to chiropractors and had had a great experience with two of them but a horrible experience with one of them, and she has been scared to find a new chiropractor ever since, because of that one bad experience. I reassured her that the techniques I use are primarily "low force" and don't involve any popping of joints. I told her that if these initial low force adjustments didn't do the trick, I also utilize convent… Continue

All Natural Sensitivity and Allergy Elimination

A patient of mine came in yesterday for an allergy checkup. I originally helped him with multiple sensitivities probably 10 years ago, and he comes in occasionally for tuneups or to eliminate new sensitivities which have sprung up. He gave me the idea to write this article, to let folks know about the great technique I've been using for probably 15 years now with great success. I thank our incredible acupuncturist and healer Lori Paiken for teaching me the technique so I could help her with her… Continue

Immunization H1N1 Vaccine Update | Ashland High School

Commentary:

Be aware the H1N1 swine flu is being touted by government and health agencies worldwide as the next pandemic and are selling millions of vaccines. In our opinion the fear of pandemic is being intentionally created without considering the side effects and possible health consequences of this and other vaccines which remain controversial at best.

The Whole Foods Alternative to ObamaCare | Wall Street Journal

Mackey2With a projected $1.8 trillion deficit for 2009, several trillions more in deficits projected over the next decade, and with both Medicare and Social Security entitlement spending about to ratchet up several notches over the next 15 years as Baby Boomers become eligible for both, we are rapidly running out of other people's money. These deficits are simply not sustainable. They are either going to result in unprecedented new taxes and inflation, or they will bankrupt us.

City to look at helping builders | Daily Tidings

With the recession putting a damper on construction, the Ashland City Council will consider whether to give 18-month extensions to all development approvals in town. That could help keep approvals on projects from expiring before projects can be built. The projects have already gone through the regular planning process.

Obama issues executive order exempting INTERPOL from the restraints of the Constitution and American law while operating in the U.S. | LiveLeak.com

During his presidency, Ronald Reagan granted the global police agency Interpol the status of diplomatic personnel in order to engage more constructively on international law enforcement. In Executive Order 12425, Reagan made two exceptions to that status. The first had to do with taxation, but the second was to make sure that Interpol had the same accountability for its actions as American law enforcement — namely, they had to produce records when demanded by courts and could not have immunity for their actions.
